McNaught Robert

Robert McNaught, born in Scotland in 1956, is an Australian astronomer who works at the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the Australian National University. He is the most prolific discoverer of comets of all times, with 82 comets to his credit (in 2013), not to mention 480 asteroids. He uses small modern instruments, and participates in the Siding Spring Survey, which regularly photographs the whole Southern sky with a 50-centimeter diameter Schmidt telescope, in search of asteroids and comets.
